Essay

In George Orwell’s animal farm one of the characters I disliked was the cruel dictator Napoleon the black boar. In the novel, he comes across a leader who thinks he can lead the farm to its best state. Unlike the reality of his leadership, he leads the farm down the path to its own demise. Napoleon lied, abused and used the animals to his advantage.

Napoleon was a power corrupt pig who wanted nothing for the other animals. He wanted to use this power to raise himself up so he could have all the luxuries that every other animal wanted. This is written in the lines when Napoleon starts to change the commandments to what luxuries he wants. For example, living in the farmhouse then changing the commandments so he can sleep on a bed. This is lying and being the horrible leader that will animal to its own destruction. This is the type of thing that makes me dislike Napoleon. Things like this happen all the time in the real world people taking advantage and using them and becoming too power corrupt. Then lead thier towns country and bussnesses to there own demise.

Napoleon used squealer to tell his lies and rumors to the other animals. Squealer is a very important character in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. He is the one who stands by Napoleon at all times as a person who lies and spreads the rumors to get Napoleon above Snowball in the other animal’s minds so he can rule and lead the farm to destruction. Also is the one who changes the commandments to fit the luxuries that he wants. For example, when the pigs take over the house in the commandments it states no animal shall sleep on a bed but squealer changes it to no animal may sleep in a bed with sheets. This a major example of Napoleon and squealer lying and abusing their power. As George Orwell is trying to rewrite the Russian Revolution with Animals the Russian dictator Starlin is represented by Napoleon who does basically what Starlin did which is why Starlin is an example of who Napoleon.

Napoleon was a character who some believe in and others didn’t. This shown throughout the novel where Boxer is a main of Napoleon believer using his saying Napoleon is always right, Unlike Jessie who thought Snowball was a better leader for the farm. For example When Napoleon Takes rule of the farm animals like Jessie and Benjamin want Snowball back and Napoleon banished. Benjamin knows that Napoleon will lead the farm down the path down to its own demise but does not speak up. When reading through the novel I favored the characters who did not believe in Napoleon’s cruel rule over Animal Farm.

In conclusion, Napoleon was one of those characters you never get to see the good side of but he is the bad guy in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. But he was still the character that I personly didn’t like because of the way he abuses and kills the animals for not believing in him as well as lying to his own people he is a good leader who uses his powers in the wrong way. This is the main reasons that he is the character I did not like in the chosen text,George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
